Congratulations on a fantastic City Nature Challenge!

What a City Nature Challenge! The campus challenge is quite competitive this year with an amazing number of participants and observations!!

The four day observation period is over. However, if you have any photos in your camera or phone that are not uploaded, we have until Sunday night to finish the upload process. Results will be official on Monday May 6th, you can follow the Campus Challenge project here

San Antonio as a whole did fabulous!! Our goal was to win Texas and it looks like we’ll do that AND we’re sitting at #3 in the world!! Follow the project here

You’re invited to celebrate the win at Confluence Park, May 17th at 6-8pm. All prizes will be award there! Please RSVP

Prizes: the trophy will be awarded to the campus with the most observations!! Right now Trinity is in the lead.

Plus, anyone who made 200 plus observations will receive a special CNC 2024 lapel pin!!

Now that the observation period is over we can focus on ID'ing the observations. This is super important and one of the best ways to learn to recognize species. You’re welcome to do this on your own or there are 2 ID parties to join:

  • Thursday 5/2 at Friedrich Park 11:30-1:30
  • Friday 5/3 at Urban Ecology Center 11:30-1:30

Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s City Nature Challenge, it was by all metrics a huge success and you helped make that happen.
